  •   Music-making at home began when I was a toddler & the only living-room furniture was the piano.


  • My classical training began at age 7
  • & continued through graduate school.
  • To accompany family singing,
  • I picked up a banjo & cast-off guitar
  • & found the notes.
  • Later, a friend's amazing hillbilly family in the Ozarks
  • taught me their best songs & tunes.
  • These are the roots of my writing & scholarship
  • as well as my playing.
